O’Naturals Café to close Friday

O’Naturals Café on Hendersonville Road is the latest restaurant casualty of the recession. Citing a poor business climate, franchise owner Clary McCall said the café will close Friday.
The restaurant, a franchise of the Maine-based O’Naturals, opened in July. The eateries provide “delicious, quick, natural and organic food,” according to its Web site.

WNC jobless rate rises

Unemployment jumped across Western North Carolina in December, according to state figures released Friday, and one official says that the local jobs situation has worsened since then.

Optical manufacturer cutting 76 jobs, merging Knox facilities

Luxottica Optical Manufacturing says Wednesday it will merge its two Knoxville-area facilities on April 4.
The company will cut approximately 76 jobs when it closes its Anderson Road facility and moves those operations to its Middle Creek facility.
Luxottica says the consolidation decision was based on evaluating how to serve customers while maximizing its resources.

Komatsu moving more production to Chattanooga

Komatsu America Corp. is consolidating its production from Shawano, Wis. to another plant in Chattanooga in a move that affects 95 workers.
Spokeswoman Mari Aoyagi says some, but not all, of the workers at the Shawano plant will be offered a job elsewhere.
