Mastercraft Boat Company lays off 100 in Vonore
Mastercraft Boat Company has laid off 110 employees in Vonore this week, according to a company spokesman.
The cuts are effective immediately and no severance is being given, according to spokesman John Behling. They include employees at the factory and the office in Vonore.

Visual Artists Gallery opens in Rutherfordton
The Rutherford County Visual Arts Center has opened at 173 North Main St., across from KidSenses Children’s Museum.
The center is operated by the Rutherford County Visual Artists Guild, a nonprofit group of more than 50 artists, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary.
