Charlotte Observer to cut jobs, reduce pay, hours

The Charlotte Observer is eliminating almost 15 percent of its work force, including 30 newsroom positions, while reducing the pay of most remaining employees.

Oak Ridge lab receives $71M from stimulus plan

The Oak Ridge National Laboratory will use a portion of its $71.2 million in federal economic stimulus funding to replace a half-century-old research building, managers said Monday.
“There is an emphasis on moving quickly,” Lab Director Thom Mason said.
