N.C. Sustainable Energy Association opens Charlotte office

The N.C. Sustainable Energy Association has opened an office in Charlotte, moving for the first time beyond its base in the Research Triangle.

Joel Olsen, managing director of the newly established O2 Energies Inc. in Cornelius, has volunteered to be acting head of the Charlotte office. The association plans to hire full time staffer to run the Charlotte operation after the organization establishes itself in the region.

Olsen says NCSEA’s interest in Charlotte is directly related to the efforts to make Charlotte a national hub for energy research, development and manufacturing. NCSEA is non-profit membership organization of individuals, businesses, government and non-profits working to promote renewable energy and energy efficiency.*

With renewable energy efforts expected to be an important part of that effort, NCSEA is trying to establish a presence in the region. It was part of the thinking behind holding its annual membership meeting in Charlotte next month, even though about 90 percent of its members are in the Research Triangle.

N.C. SEA will hold a forum on “Growing North Carolina’s Green Economy” in conjuction with the annual meeting.
