It seems like the rainy days will never end in Knoxville.
Every time it rains really hard, the intersection of Cross Park Drive and Village Park Drive in West Knoxville floods.
This is bad news for drivers, but good news for at least one business.
“It looks like a big, big river and people are lining up to try to get through it,” said Lunchbox Market and Cafe worker Rich Tamanaha. “The water gets up to door level. I’ve seen it get as high up as to the window.”
The Lunchbox is right near the problem intersection and workers there say when it floods, customers rush in.
“People get frustrated when the line builds up out here. They actually want to just stop, rather than deal with going through a line of people,” Tamanaha said.
Workers at Mayo Garden Centers are also fans of the rain.
During the drought, the workers had to constantly water plants. Now, they don’t have to touch them because Mother Nature does all the work.
“We are happy to have the extra water here at our store. It’s helped us water during the summer when we have to water two or three times a day,” said part-owner Claxton Mayo.
It’s also helping gardeners. When they see more green, Mayo does, too.
“It’s certainly been good for our lawn mower business because the grass continues to grow,” Mayor said. “As long as the grass is growing, people buy new lawn mowers and our lawn mower business has been much better because of it.”
